In short

Can my chip be repaired?

Not all damage means a new windshield. A small chip without long cracks can usually be repaired: we clean the impact, inject a special resin that fills the gaps, cure it and polish the area.

The result: the windshield gets its strength back, the chip becomes much less visible and the risk of it turning into a crack drops sharply.

If the damage can’t be repaired, we’ll tell you honestly and suggest a windshield replacement.

Tip: cover the chip with clear tape and don’t put it off – dirt, water and cold can turn it into a crack.

It can usually be repaired if

  • The impact is smaller than a coin
  • There are no long cracks running from it
  • It isn’t right in the driver’s direct line of sight
  • It isn’t at the edge of the windshield
  • It’s recent and hasn’t filled up with dirt

Questions about chip repair

Does the chip disappear completely?

It usually becomes much less visible, but a small mark may remain. The main goal of the repair is to stop the damage from spreading and to restore the windshield’s strength.

How long does the repair take?

About an hour, depending on the size and type of the impact.

Can a long crack be repaired too?

Usually not. Long cracks, or cracks that start at the edge of the windshield, are dealt with by replacing the windshield.

What happens if I don’t repair the chip?

It can spread into a crack because of vibration, potholes or temperature changes – and then a repair is no longer possible and the windshield has to be replaced.

    What data we collect

    Your name, phone number, e-mail address (optional), car details, the location where you'd like the work done, your message and any attached photos (optional) – only if you send them to us via the form, e-mail, phone or WhatsApp. For spam protection, your IP address is also recorded when the form is submitted.

    Why we use it

    To send you a quote, arrange the appointment and carry out the work. After the job, we may send you a one-off message with a link to leave a Google review. We don't send advertising and we never sell your data.

    How long we keep it

    Only as long as needed for your request and for legal obligations (e.g. invoicing).

    Visit statistics

    We count visits and clicks on the contact buttons with our own system, without cookies. We don't keep your IP address and can't identify you; the data is only aggregated numbers (e.g. “20 visits today”).

    Your rights

    Under the GDPR (EU Regulation 2016/679) you can request access to, correction or deletion of your data by writing to office@akycarglass.ro. You have the right to complain to ANSPDCP (dataprotection.ro).
